Overcoming the Language Barrier With Your Foreign Bride
The question came from one of my Monday night listeners, a GREAT question for
anyone seriously considering the foreign bride search:
"I'm going to Odessa, Ukraine on a Romance Tour.  If it's true there will be
hundreds of women for me to meet at the socials (and yes, it IS true,) how
will I overcome the language barrier when I get introduced to someone?"

Obviously, this a question that comes up on every  Romance Tour not only to Eastern
Europe but to Latin America and Asia. Working through the language "barrier", as my
friend called it, is not only important to assure you meet ALOT of ladies but also the
BEST POSSIBLE lady for you.  By "best possible" I mean someone who has a clear
advantage over other ladies in chemistry and compatibility with your most important
"life-partner" criteria.

Ironically, one of the more amazing qualities foreign ladies  possess is the
understanding and tolerance they display toward men who come to THEIR country to
court them - without knowing how to speak THEIR language at all.  We all know how
many Americans feel about people who come to our country and don't speak our
language, right?  These women are more likely to be embarrassed not to be able to
speak English to
us!  Say anything to ladies you meet at romance tour socials in their
native language and you'll like the reaction you get!  They smile broadly, giggle and
just love it.  You could literally just say "Hello! How are you?" and get a reply like "Oh,
you speak great Russian?"  It's also a great icebreaker.
Go on a romance tour without brushing up on
a little foreign language -  and you'll never be
so sorry you couldn't talk to ladies who are
looking at you like
THAT!
YOU WANT TO MEET WOMEN WHO DON'T NECESSARILY SPEAK GREAT ENGLISH!
Why?  Because the vast majority of men who actually get on a plane and go to meet these ladies will ONLY try to meet
women who speak great English.  And in most cities, regardless of country, the top 3% of English speaking women - we're
talking young 20-something model wannabes - are over-pursued by men looking for "I Dream Of Jeannie."
You CAN meet English speaking women in cities like Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Kharkov and Odessa, but in these cities,
30 - 40% of the women will speak some level of English.  There haven't been allot of American or English business ventures
started in the FSU until recently, so most women will learn other languages like German or Italian.  In Latin America the
percentage of women who can speak English in places like Colombia and Peru is much lower but a few obviously can.

You will do yourself a huge favor in this process to include women in your search who do not speak English. Getting to
know them is not as hard as you would think and  if you're going to search for a foreign bride or book a romance tour so
you can meet hundreds of ladies in order to find
HER, then go and meet those hundreds of ladies!  Don't limit yourself to
the handful who speak perfect English.  There are some amazing women who don't speak English yet but will be happy to
learn once you give them a very good reason - like a lifetime of love and commitment!

“BUT, BUD," YOU'LL ASK, "IF SO MANY FOREIGN WOMEN WANT TO MEET A GUY SHOULDN'T THEY LEARN
ENGLISH TO INCREASE THEIR CHANCES?”

Well, although any foreign girl's chances of being discovered would increase drastically if she learned English, the
opportunity isn't always available or practical.  Many women who have graduated from university have jobs and are single
moms with long hours and limited resources.  They doubt their chances of ever meeting someone and therefore do not
invest the time and money in learning English.  It isn't until they DO meet an interested man that they're given the best
motivation to book some language classes.

I met my Viktoria in December of 2001.  She didn't speak any English at first.  When I went back to see her in March of
2002 we spoke almost entirely in English with the help of a few English-Russian dictionaries.  Later on, her letters
became longer and longer.  It really was remarkable on her part - how dedicated she was to studying English in order to
keep our communication going. I thank God for her everyday.  Can't imagine where I'd be without her.

If you go to Medellin, Colombia, Lima, Peru or other Latin cities believe me you will want to know a little Spanish.  Don't miss
your opportunity to interact with exotic, breath-taking women who are looking at you like THAT.  During my Cartagena tour
in 2003, one client told me of an evening in his hotel room with his girl.  Geoff described how neither he nor his girl could
understand each other,  but they played with an electronic translator for awhile, making jokes and small talk.  They ate
dinner quietly by candlelight, then stood holding each other on his balcony.  “Eventually,” Geoff said, “I just started talking
without the translator, just told her how beautiful I thought she was, how glad I was to have met her and how I hoped we
could find love together.  I talked and talked and poured out my soul.  She looked puzzled for a moment but then listened
quietly until I finished and then began talking herself- just whispering romantically in Spanish for a long time - I have no idea
what she said and yet - I know exactly what she said.”  That was their first night together.

Believe me, the effort you put into meeting women who have yet to learn English will reward you handsomely.  There are
plenty of interpreters, electronic translators and language courses available to help you.

Which brings me to another topic - if you really want to know how to get around the language barrier just follow these three
suggestions.
 1. Learn a few words and phrases in her native language.  2. Take along a Russian/English or
Spanish/English dictionary or an electronic translator.
 3. USE THE INTERPRETERS PROVIDED BY THE TOUR
OPERATOR!
Your tour operator will have a very attentive staff including some very personable, friendly and genuinely
helpful interpreters.  The interpreters are usually lovely ladies similar to the ones you came hoping to meet.  They like us,
know why we are there and will try very hard to help us meet someone we really, really like!  Yet, most interpreters I have
seen at romance tour socials are sitting around completely bored because no guys are asking for their help!  You will likely
meet your group's interpreters right away, perhaps the first night you arrive.  Ask one or two to lunch and tell them all
about yourself.  Ask them for help in meeting ladies at the socials.  Believe me, they will be all over that, hoping if you like a
girl who does not speak English you'll ask the interpreter to accompany you on a date thus earning them some usually much
needed money.  Interpreters are always free during social events - you've paid for them with your tour - but charge a
reasonable $8 - $10 per hour while working for you after the socials.  Be sure to pay for their lunch, museum tickets, show
admission etc along with you and your date.  Interpreters see allot of guys come and go. Foreign ladies will generally trust
their opinion of you.  If yours likes you, she can be a real deal closer later on.
